Preston Golf Club Roof Terrace

We were initially approached by Preston Golf Club to work alongside their team to develop a plan to improve their facilities, providing a better experience to their members and visitors to the club.

As part of the initial assessment of their buildings, one of the roofs at the club house was identified as requiring immediate refurbishment due to its age and condition. Part of our remit was to also find a solution to their lack of an outdoor seating area for customers using their bar and restaurant, which the club felt would be particularly popular for events and functions held at the club during the summer months.

We proposed a scheme of works which involved renewal of the existing roof coverings, along with converting the flat roof to a roof terrace for outdoor seating. As part of the scheme, the existing dilapidated steel balcony and spiral staircase would be replaced with a new, larger balcony and compliant staircase, providing a link for access between the bar and roof terrace.

Having considered this and other alternatives, the clubs decided that this was the design which they preferred. Currently, we are due to start work on site to install a series of steel columns and beams internally, which will provide the strength to the roof to be used as a roof terrace. The plans for the roof terrace have been designed by us and have now achieved planning approval. The new roof terrace will feature bespoke sandstone coping stones to the parapet wall, architectural stainless steel and glass balustrades and new paving slabs to provide a nice finish to the roof terrace and improve the overall appearance of the club house.

Be sure to revisit our blog in the coming weeks for updates on the progress at Preston Golf Club.
