Widnes Market Roof Refurbishment

We were initially approached by a contractor that had recently won a tender for the refurbishment of the roofs at Widnes Market. The initial scheme of works had been proposed by an alternative consultant, acting on behalf of Halton Council. The contractor required our services to design an alternative scheme of works that would provide cost savings to the client, reduce health and safety risks, and allow the day-to-day operation of the market to continue with minimal disruption.

Having considered the original design and several alternatives, we proposed an over-clad system which eliminated the need to strip the existing roof and reduced the risk to the market stalls below, whilst still offering the same guarantee period and expected life span. The change in the scope of works also provided huge savings against the original scheme by greatly reducing the duration of the works. All parties agreed with this proposal and works promptly started on site. We liaised closely with all parties to ensure that the work proceeded smoothly and on time, with regular site visits to monitor progress and quality of the works.

The roofing works were completed on time and well within the allocated budget, ensuring that all parties were extremely happy with the project.
